Slow Cooker Meal Kits in your grocery store
Convenience in a bag
This may have been “a thing” for months or years by now, I don't know. But I just noticed it yesterday in my local grocery store's meat section, and I find this intriguing.
Apparently, Tyson makes a “slow cooker kit” that includes a the meat and vegetables, all ready to throw into your slow cooker, with no thought, no effort, no preparation, etc. Pretty smart!
Since I wasn't shopping for dinner food, I only took this photo. (No, I didn't touch it.)
But this does seem like a really good idea for Tyson to package up their product in this way.
The price seemed reasonable, but I didn't actually compare the cost of this meal kit vs the cost of the individual ingredients. I assume it's slightly more expensive to have it pre-assembled, but it seemed fine to me.
Use your instant pot for great pot roast!
Recently, my daughter has been learning to use our instant pot, and has successfully made a delicious pot roast a few times, using a recipe she found online, and I think she's damn-near perfected it. So, I've had “pot roast on my mind” lately, I guess.
Perhaps that is why I also purchased (on an impulse), this pot roast seasoning kit, pictured below, by Campbells. It's 13 ounces of Tavern Style Pot Roast seasoning marinade / spices / gravy, all in one. “Just add beef”, they say. I'll be interested to see how this holds up against Kendal's recipe!

When we cook a pot roast, using this seasoning kit (and probably cooking it in our instant pot), we'll let you know what we think in an upcoming blog post.
