High Protein Diet Meal Prepping: How to Make it Easy
If you are trying to follow a high protein diet, then meal prepping is going to be a must. It can be hard to get all of your protein in during the day if you are eating out or relying on processed foods. By preparing your meals ahead of time, you can make sure that you are getting the nutrients that you need without having to worry about it. Today, we will discuss some tips for easy and healthy high protein diet meal prepping!
Count your Macros
One of the most important things that you need to do when meal prepping for a high protein diet is to make sure that you are counting your macros. This means keeping track of the amount of carbohydrates, fat, and protein that you are consuming each day. By tracking your macros, you can ensure that you are getting the right balance of nutrients and not over or under eating.
Set a Calorie Goal
Another important tip for high protein diet meal prepping is to set a calorie goal. Since you are trying to consume more calories, it is important to make sure that you are not eating too much or too little. A good rule of thumb is to eat about 20-30% more calories than you normally would. This may seem like a lot, but it is important to remember that you are trying to fuel your body with protein and build muscle. Apps like MyFitnessPal are great to keep track of your calories and make sure you hit those goals, as well as tracking macros as I've mentioned previously.
Plan Ahead
Another important tip for meal prepping is to plan your meals ahead of time. Prepping your meals for the week by making large batches and splitting them into portions for each day is a great way to make sure you're hitting your macros precisely every day. You can also batch cook protein-rich foods like grilled chicken or hard-boiled eggs to have on hand for quick and easy meals.
One of my favorite (and easiest!) meal preps is called Monster Mash.
It's simply equal parts ground beef and rice soaked in bone broth mixed together. I make a big batch in my Instant Pot on Sunday and then portion out Mason Jars packed with enough to fit my macros to last me the week!
Make It Easy on Yourself
One of the best things about meal prepping is that it can make your life a lot easier. By having all of your meals prepared in advance, you won't have to worry about what you're going to eat or how you're going to fit it into your day. Meal prepping can help you save time and money, and it can make following a high protein diet much easier.
Protein is an essential macronutrient that helps with many bodily functions, including muscle growth, repair, and maintenance. Meal prepping with macros in mind is a great way to make sure you are getting the nutrients your body needs, especially if you are following a high protein diet. By counting your macros and planning your meals ahead of time, you can make serious muscle gains.
