Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries

Sweet potatoes, the regular potatoes cool older brother, is an all time favorite amongst many. They are great both sweet and savory, making them a staple dish. You typically find the former in a casserole, loaded with other sweet toppings like marshmallows and nuts and such, but today we are going to be making some savory sweet potato fries in the air fryer! The air fryer is a healthy alternative to the more commonly found deep frying method of making fries, and it doesn't sacrifice the nice crispiness.

If you're used to making fries in the deep fryer, you know how much oil you use. In the air fryer, you get those same crispy fries you love without all the oil! Follow this recipe for perfectly crisp sweet potato fries!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb 1 1/2 sweet potatoes

  • 1 tsp 1 kosher salt

  • 1/4 tsp 1/4 ground cumin

  • 1/4 tsp 1/4 ground cayenne pepper

  • 1/4 tsp 1/4 black pepper

  • 2 tsp 2 olive oil

Directions

  • Cut the sweet potatoes into 1/2-inch thick sticks. Pat dry and place them in a large mixing bowl.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the salt, cumin, cayenne pepper, and black pepper.
  • Toss the sweet potatoes with olive oil until well coated. Add in the spice mixture, then toss to coat evenly.
  • Place half of the sweet potato fries in the air fryer basket with a little bit of space in between each fry. Cook at 380° for 7 minutes. Shake the fries after cooking, and return to the air fryer for 7 more minutes. Repeat with the remaining half of the potatoes.
  • Transfer all of the cooked fries from the plate to the air fryer basket. Season with more kosher salt to taste.
