I’m About to Become the Ice Queen

Every time my SmarterHomeCooking colleague, Todd, extols the many virtues of having a countertop ice maker, the lyrics to Foreigner’s “Cold as Ice” play over and over in my head.

If, like me, you’re a child of the 1970s, you likely remember the non-stop radio play of the rock band Foreigner. I swear, every time my SmarterHomeCooking colleague, Todd, extols the many virtues of having a countertop ice maker, the lyrics to Foreigner’s “Cold as Ice” play over and over in my head.

It’s an earworm that I can’t shake. Instead, I’m leaning in. And by that, I mean ordering a countertop ice maker from Amazon, thinking up ways to serve more dishes that need ice, using it as an excuse to experiment with icy drinks (both adult and kid-friendly), and making a 70s-inspired playlist to blast during some much-overdue meal prep time. Todd was definitely right about one thing – more ice = more fun!

I’m a former journalist and marketing consultant. I combine my love of good food with my obsession for organization - because a well-stocked, perfectly arranged pantry is just as satisfying as a delicious meal. When I’m not experimenting with cooking new dishes for friends or figuring out the most efficient way to make meal prep exciting, you’ll find me out in San Francisco with my dog Benny, binging on podcasts, or checking out new dining experiences. Some days it’s gourmet, other days it’s survival mode!
